Ignazio Abate, Alberto Aquilani and Antonio Nocerino are among the 24 players called up by Cesare Prandelli for the two Italy friendlies scheduled.
The azzurri will take on Poland on Friday November 11th in Poland and will then play against Uruguay at the Olympic stadium in Rome on Tuesday 15th.
"I’ve called up Abate, who is in great shape for Milan, but he has to prove he deserves the Nazionale by performing consistently,” said Cesare Prandelli on Stadio Sprint.
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has told Italy boss Cesare Prandelli to not underestimate the ability of Ignazio Abate.
“If Abate is considered as a player good enough to feature in the European Championship then it is right that he is part of the squad,” Galliani noted.
“However, it would be wrong to just use him to plug some gaps for a couple of friendly games.
“I think Abate deserves a place at Euro 2012 and not just in two friendly matches...”
This is what Ignazio Abate had to say after his very first press conference as an Italy player:
"I am very calm about the situation, it is up to me to show that I deserve this call-up. I didn't start as a full back but I have adapted to the rale thanks also to coach Allegri who has helped me improve my defensive qualities. Do I have an idol? Well we have Zambrotta in our team so I look up to him."
Abate also wanted to thank Milan's managing director Adriano Galliani: "I thank Galliani for his kind words, I have always believed in my ability now I have to convince Prandelli."
