Carlos Tevez is closing in on a short-term switch to AC Milan.

The Argentine has not played for Manchester City since September and is currently AWOL in his homeland having left Britain during the recent international break.

Tevez's future at the Etihad Stadium looks bleak after a total breakdown in relationship with manager Roberto Mancini, stemming from a summer transfer request and then his alleged refusal to come on as a substitute in a Champions League game at Bayern Munich.

The striker saw a proposed move to Brazil collapse over funding and City refuse to budge on an asking price in the region of £40million. 

That figure has forced many of Europe's top clubs to revaluate their approach, and Italian media now claims Milan have agreed a deal with Tevez and his advisors.

It is claimed that the six-month deal would earn Tevez £3m and would have the option of a further two years for the 27-year-old when it is assessed in June.

'Tevez is strong regardless of what has happened,' Mancini told Italian TV last week. 'And great players have a price that is rather high.'

Milan No 2 Mauro Tassotti admitted that there was interest.

'Tevez to Milan? He is a great player but we need to evaluate his condition and his head because as well as technical ability, you need to be mentally ready to play,' Tassoti told the Mirror. 'There are problems with Manchester City but it could be an idea.'/dailymail.co.uk/
