Cassano scores the only goal for Italy against Faroe Islands

Italy took a step closer to qualifying for Euro2012 this evening following a 1-0 success away to Faroe Islands. Once again it was Antonio Cassano the decisive player for the Azzurri. The Rossoneri's striker scored on 11 minutes from an Andrea Pirlo pass.

Cesare Prandelli's team struggled to control the game and the hosts came close to equalising twice, both times denied by the woodwork.

Antonio Cassano played for 85 minutes (replaced by Balotelli); Alberto Aquilani played the final 17 minutes after coming on for Motta; Antonio Nocerino watched the game from the stands but could be called on by Prandelli on Tuesday when Italy play Slovenia at home.
