Pirlo is emotional about his comeback in San Siro

Andrea Pirlo admits it will be “emotional” stepping into San Siro tonight for Juventus against his former club AC Milan.

“It will be emotional, but I had to face Milan sooner or later. It’s best to get it over with before the season begins,” Pirlo told La Stampa newspaper.

“Do I miss them? The rapport with your friends is never affected by moving house.”

“Why did I leave? Because I needed a change. Every day had become the same and I needed something to restore my motivation.

“The Juve idea started in February and the final injury reaffirmed my decision. I had never had problems before, but suddenly was having one injury after another. I took it as a sign from destiny.”

“This isn’t the first time I have played in a two-man midfield. Italy also played with a 4-2-3-1 system, even though it’s the arrangement of the strikers that changes things more.

“Conte keeps telling us the pace of passing shouldn’t become an obsession. It must be reasoned and thought-through.”
