AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has described Antonio Cassano as a "fantastic" talent and he hopes the club hold onto him.
Cassano, 29, has been linked with a summer departure, with Fiorentina said to be keen on him following reports he was heading there as part of a deal for Riccardo Montolivo.
The Bari native was sublime for Italy against Spain on Wednesday, and Boateng has hailed the impact he has had at San Siro after joining the champions in January.
"Cassano is fantastic and he has enormous class," Boateng told Il Corriere dello Sport.
"Of course, in the dressing room he makes us laugh and sometimes he gets you angry, but he does not do this on purpose."
The Ghana international continued to insist that Cassano's infamous off-field antics were not a problem, and integral to the forward's personality.
"It's part of his character and you cannot change this. The club knows what he is about if they keep him," he stated.
"In any case, on the pitch he is fantastic."
